Tell Duluth Police to STOP Assisting Federal Attacks on Immigrants!

On multiple occasions Chief Mike Ceynowa has stated that the Duluth Police Department (DPD) does not handle immigration enforcement. However, local immigrant solidarity activists have had experiences that expose that this is not the case.  Here is a statement by a local solidarity activist that gives a specific example:

In a recent incident, myself and other constitutional observers were practicing our legal right by tailing what we believed to be an ICE vehicle that had been circling Denfeld High School. We tailed this federal vehicle until they entered the Public Safety Campus, at which point a fellow observer entered a nearby parking lot and all exits were blocked by DPD vehicles. We then lost the federal vehicle.

Secretary Noem has deployed 2100 federal officers to Minnesota to assist in deportations. 600 of those officers are Homeland Security Investigation (HSI) officers, which DPD has confirmed that they do work with, and that they plan to continue to work with. My concern is that HSI is assisting with deportations, as stated by the Secretary of Homeland Security herself. That means DPD is, can, and has assisted ICE and HSI in their operations in this city.

Tell the Duluth City Council to ban any 287G Program in Duluth, including DPD collaboration with HSI, end the use of FLOCK and any other collusion with the feds!

You can contact individual Duluth City Councilors via the city website.  You can also email the Council as a whole at council@duluthmn.gov.

We also urge our readers to get involved in the local immigrant and refugee solidarity movement.  We in particular recommend the Twin Ports Rapid Response.
