Labor Activism

The Northwoods Socialist Collective is active in the labor movement, and believes that the labor movement has a crucial role to play in defending the interests of working people.  We urge our members and supporters to be active in their union, and if you work at a non-union worksite, we urge you to try and unionize it.

Within the labor movement we are actively trying to build up a class struggle left wing, and to help build connections between labor, community & student activists.  Overall, our goal is to help build a militant, democratic and diverse labor movement that is capable of taking on the bosses, and winning!

Email Lists:  The Collective runs email announcement lists for workers in the healthcare and education sectors, which currently are the two areas where we have the most members.  These are low volume email lists used for sending out announcements about union, social justice and socialist news & events related to healthcare and education.

To sign up for a general labor activism announcement list for northern MN & WI, we recommend this list run by the Workers' Aid committee of United Steelworkers Local 9460https://groups.google.com/g/workers-aid

Unionize Your Worksite: The Collective has been involved in a number of successful union organizing drives over the years.  If you're curious about how to unionize your workplace but have questions about how to proceed, feel free to reach out to us.  We can walk you through what the process generally looks like, as well as connect you with a union to work with.  You can reach us at northwoodssocialists@proton.me

Local Unions & Labor Links:  Here is a list of various local unions, labor councils and publications.
