Another ICE Raid in Duluth - This One With a Happy Ending

Immigration & Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) conducted another raid in Duluth this week, and on International Workers Day, no less. They abducted more roofers, this time in the Duluth Heights neighborhood. However, unlike last time, ICE was forced to release the two workers the same day when it was proved that they weren't undocumented - one was a citizen while another was an immigrant with work papers. Documented or undocumented, this persecution has to stop! Our reactionary government is trying to sow divisions within the working class. Reject this bigotry.

Here is coverage of this recent ICE raid from WDIO:  https://www.wdio.com/front-page/top-stories/ice-presence-in-duluth-heights-neighborhood/

We also want to remind our readers about these previous articles that we've published that provide some recent history of ICE's raids and detentions in the Twin Ports:

Duluth Turns Out in Oppositon to Proposals to Criminalize Homelessness

The City of Duluth has proposed a series of ordinance s, which if passed, would further criminalize being homeless, as well as allow for the city to shut down the Gaza protest encampment in front of City Hall.  The City announced its plans at a press conference on July 9.  The ordinances were subsequently proposed to the City Council on July 15 by Councilor Tara Swenson.  It is believed they may be voted on as soon as the July 29 Council meeting. While Mayor Reinert's administration, and their supporters on the Council, are trying to frame their initiative as a benevolent package to improve public safety, what they really are is a grab bag of reactionary proposals  to further criminalize being homeless, as well as various forms of protest.
