A busload of striking Essentia Health workers from Deer River came to Duluth on January 15 to protest in front of the new St. Mary's Hospital. They were joined by the Steelworkers, MNA, AFSCME and community members. The workers at Deer River are the lowest paid at Essentia. They are fighting for fair wages, and against the company's proposal to be able to float workers to any facility and city. These courageous workers have been standing strong for 38 days! If you weren't able to make it to today's protest, we urge you to donate to the SEIU strike fund.
