The
Northwoods Socialist Collective was founded in the Fall of 2020. The
initiative came out of a proposal from Carl Sack (an amazing local
activist who tragically passed away in the Spring of 2024) to create an
organization where local revolutionary socialists could come together
and coordinate their work.
Despite being a relatively young group, a number of our founding members had been active in the local socialist movement going back to the 1990s. But even more significantly, we stand on the shoulders of a socialist movement that has a rich and deep history. Understanding the lessons of that history, both the victories and the defeats, is crucial so that we can successfully move forward in our efforts to make the world a better place.
