The Gaza solidarity encampment is still standing. Following last week's City Council meeting, Duluth Police came to the camp and posted a notice giving the campers a deadline to be out by 7:30am this Tuesday. However there is no guarantee that that is when they will come. If you're able to make it down for any length of time today to stand in solidarity, please do. If you can, we urge you to especially try to make it down tomorrow morning at 7am.
So far this morning a couple of police cars circled around and a plain clothes detective came and took photos. City workers came and emptied the trash cans. Most campers, who are otherwise unhoused, are gathering up their stuff, contemplating their next move. If you're able to drop off any food or beverages that would be appreciated. There may be a use for cars to help haul stuff at different times today too. But there is also just a need for folks to be present so that whatever the cops do they have to do with an audience.
