From
janitors to coders to Clinical Assistants, one thousand support staff
and patient care workers at Essentia Health in the Twin Ports are
currently in contract negotiations. These negotiations come at a tough
time when Essentia is laying off registration workers, and trying to cut
costs across the board (except of course, when it comes to the CEO's
every growing salary). These workers, who are represented by Local 9460 of the United Steelworkers, are gearing up for a fight.
And one of the things they have been doing is wearing union stickers on
the job as a way of showing the company that they are united in their
support of the union. Stay tuned for ways the community can support
these over worked and under paid workers as they gear up to take on the
Leviathon!
