On the evening of March 7 labor activists, including MN AFL-CIO President Bernie Burnham, turned out in support of Project Labor Agreements at the Cloquet city council meeting.
The effort to remove the pro-labor language from a city ordinance was tabled.
Project Labor Agreements establish the terms and conditions of employment for construction projects. Before any workers are hired, construction unions have bargaining rights to determine the wage rates and benefits of all employees working on the particular project. The terms of the agreement apply to all contractors and subcontractors who successfully bid on the project.
