Duluth & Superior City Councils Fail to Take Stand Against Nuclear Weapons

It was a disappointing night on March 13 for peace activists in the Northwoods.  A resolution to support an international ban on nuclear weapons failed to get a majority of votes by the Duluth City Council.   The vote was 4 to 4, meaning that the motion failed.  Voting in support of the resolution were Councilors Randorf, Mayou, Awal and Anderson, voting against were Kennedy, Forsman, Hobbs and Alstead.  This setback comes on the heels of every single Superior City Councilor declining to even bring this up for a vote before that body. Nevertheless, we want to  thank you though to all of the activists from the Twin Ports Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, and everyone else who turned out to show their support for the resolution. Stay tuned for where we go from here on this important issue.
