Dec. 13 Town Hall Meeting on Discipline vs Restorative Practices in Duluth Schools

Below is an invitation from the Duluth NAACP for a town hall meeting on discipline vs restorative practices in the public schools:

You may have seen The School to Prison Pipeline billboards that have been up around Duluth recently. We want to bring this issue to your attention and invite you to share your experience.

The current system of discipline disproportionately impacts students of color, working class students, and students with disabilities and/or special education.

The Duluth Branch NAACP invites you to a Town Hall: Community Education Meeting to discuss a change of culture centered on restorative practices in ISD 709.

Restorative Practices in Duluth Public Schools: Foster a supportive community culture that puts students first.

What are restorative practices?

• Restorative practices focus on conflict resolution and rehabilitation as alternatives to suspension and criminalization.

• This initiative would foster a supportive community culture that puts students first.

Parents and community members are invited to share their experiences if they wish and learn about the changes in the District from invited administrators and program leaders.

Please join us:

Tuesday, December 13, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
